Whitening

The foods we eat today as well as smoking can change the colour of our teeth. Most people can restore their smile with bleaching of the teeth.

Chairside Bleaching

A protective barrier is applied to the gum area before a bleaching gel is applied. The gel is then set with a special light. The treatment is generally over in one hour.

Home Bleaching

Impression need to be taken to make the special trays which will hold the bleaching liquid. Depending on the type of bleach the trays are worn for a couple of hours or overnight. There will be a gradual change over a couple of weeks. The bleaching trays can be used over again and again.

Caution needs to be taken when whitening the teeth. If your teeth are sensitive, worn or have gum disease this treatment may not be suitable for you. Some over the counter preparations are very abrasive they may damage the teeth.

Bleaching will not change the colour of existing crowns or fillings.
